Winning the selection board over
One of the tricks to succeed in your AFSB screening interview is to win the board over. Here I will be listing some ways you can actually make the Selection board like you giving a percentage of getting shortlisted.
1. Etiquette
You're expected to behave in the best of manners when you face the board. Like, who doesn't like a well mannered person? When you're ushered Into the room there are some things you're meant to do and others you're not
a. Don't walk into the room sluggishly or with fear, nobody there will slap you just walk boldly to your sit. But, don't over do it.
b. Don't sit till your asked to.
c. Avoid answering questions with body language. Like; nodding for a yes, using the maybe gestures🤷🤷
d. Always remember to sit upright
e. Don't cross your legs too
f. Don't speak when you're not allowed to do so.
g don't keep long eye to eye contact with any of the board members.
2. Go straight to the answer of any question asked. Don't act too smart by using big grammar or beating around the bush. Also avoid words like "I don't know, I have no idea, I think so, I am not sure" give any answer correct or not. you will see reason on my previous write up.
3. Give you answers in the military (your preferred arm) point of view.
4. Try to control your facial expressions
5. Utilize the options given to you. For instance on previous screening some candidates where asked what they will do if they were tasked with moving their troops from Zaria to sokoto which is 50 miles and around 20miles there were attacked by Boko Haram? a) return to Zaria b) fight and head to sokoto. Most candidates said they will call for backup which is not in the option.
There are not a 100 percent guarantee to the final list but they certainly contributes to getting you there.
